The next UnderBalanced Operations (UBO) Class being held by Signa Engineering (www.signaengineering.com) is scheduled for July 26-30, 2004, at Signa's headquarters in Houston, TX.  The early registration discount date has been extended to July 16, giving students an opportunity to save 10 percent off the total price of the course.

Anyone looking for assistance in drilling wells underbalanced or with managed pressure techniques should attend. The class includes an open-discussion format to give attendants a chance to interact with other operators who are looking for practical answers and the latest UBO technology.  The class is designed to educate students in applied UBO techniques so they leave with a full understanding of how to implement the process in the field.   All major and independent oil corporations are welcome, as well as consulting firms and service companies.

HUBS empowerment: In addition to the instruction on UnderBalanced Drilling techniques, students will learn to use Signa's Hydraulic UnderBalanced Simulator (HUBS) software , a detailed UBO computer program that predicts adequate hole cleaning and maximizes the penetration rate while maintaining an underbalanced campaign. All students receive a six-month unlimited license to use HUBS, which includes help and assistance from Signa Engineers.

Unique features of Signa's UBO Class:

•  Applicable to all aspects of UBO, from drilling and completion through workover and re-completion (not limited to drilling)

•  All UBO fluid systems are addressed including mudcap, flow drilling, aerated or gasified fluids, foam, air and mist

•  Includes major segments on surface equipment layout, drillstring and casing design considerations, and true UBO completion techniques

•  Underbalanced Project Management covered

•  Underbalanced Well Control procedures and equipment are described

•  Risk Analysis included

•  A complete look at underbalanced Candidate Identification and Technique Selection, using real-life case histories

Cost: The price for the class is $2,800 per student.  As mentioned, students who register prior to July 16 receive a 10% discount ($280) for early registration, which brings the net total price to $2,520 per student. Multiple students receive a discount of 15% ($420 per student) for registrations of five (5) or more from the same company.   All discounts require pre-payment with VISA, American Express or Mastercard. International students should plan to register early to guarantee enrollment in the class.

Convenience: The class will be held just minutes away from George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH). Anyone unable to attend the class after registering is entitled to send another person in their place.  For more information on the UBD Training Agenda and Training Schedules, visit the Training Section of our new website.
