Overview

Before you spud, it’s crucial to understand what the downhole environment looks like. Signa’s hydraulic models allow you to design the best trajectory for your wellbore while staying within the limits of your equipment and fluid properties. You predict adequate hole cleaning while minimizing torque, drag, and buckling. You determine the maximum penetration rate while calculating heat transfer, influx, lost circulation, and phase change. Our softwares are always compatible with onshore and offshore rigs, since they account for air gap and negative temperature gradient in the ocean. And if you don’t have the time or in-house expertise, Signa can always model your wells for you.

 

Models

Signa's drilling simulators allow you to design the optimal hydraulics plan for your well. The easy-to-use interface can be used for onshore/offshore, vertical or horizontal, conventional or unconventional (UBD, MPD, HTHP) wells. Our models allow design for directional and extended reach wells, and include anti-collision modeling for your multi-well pads. All Signa softwares are compatible with either onshore or offshore rigs since they account for air gap and negative temperature gradient in the ocean. They also allow multiple fluid rheology models and incorporate a newly developed 2-Phase flow jet sub model. All softwares include a Productivity Index calculation and allow the user to look up tables for tubulars and fluids. A customized units option is also available. Signa softwares also allow the driller to select the optimal flow rate design/selection and incorporate a “pressure matching” feature. Our hydraulic models include cuttings transport determination, surge and swab analysis, and cementing calculations.

SEEDS (Transient)

The Signa Engineering Enhanced Drilling Simulator (SEEDS) is designed for MPD (including Dual Gradient Drilling), extended reach applications, casing drilling, and high pressure/high temperature (HPHT) wells. It incorporates a real-time transient simulator for drilling and completions, and allows modeling of multiphase hydraulics, heat transfer, rheology, and fluid compressibility. Anti-collision modeling is also included for your multi-well pads. SEEDS allows you to properly design wellbore trajectory and determine the capacity of drilling equipment and circulating fluid. It predicts adequate hole cleaning while minimizing torque, drag, and buckling. SEEDS shows you the maximum penetration rate while optimizing wellbore departure, and makes calculations for heat transfer, influx, lost circulation, and phase change. It accounts for a variety of dynamic situations that occur during MPD, including high torque and drag, the potential for buckling of pipe, inefficient hole cleaning, and the inability to reach TD. Single or multi-well trajectory designs can be designed.

ERDS

The Extended Reach Drilling Simulator (ERDS) modeling software is designed for MPD (including Dual Gradient Drilling), extended reach applications, casing drilling, and high pressure/high temperature (HPHT) wells. It allows modeling of multiphase hydraulics, heat transfer, rheology, and fluid compressibility. Anti-collision modeling is also included for your multi-well pads. ERDS allows the user to properly design wellbore trajectory while accounting for the capacity of drilling equipment and circulating fluid. It predicts adequate hole cleaning while minimizing torque, drag, and buckling. ERDS shows you the maximum penetration rate while optimizing wellbore departure, and makes calculations for heat transfer, influx, lost circulation, and phase change. ERDS accounts for a variety of dynamic situations that occur during MPD, including high torque and drag, the potential for buckling of pipe, inefficient hole cleaning, and the inability to reach TD. Single or multi-well trajectory designs can be designed. The wellbore can be viewed at any orthogonal projection.

HUBS

The Hydraulic UnderBalanced Simulator (HUBS) software is designed to optimize UBD, specifically gas, mist, foam and gasified fluid applications. HUBS is also perfect for conventional overbalanced wells and MudCap Drilling. It allows modeling of multiphase hydraulics, heat transfer, rheology, and fluid compressibility. Anti-collision modeling is also included for your multi-well pads. HUBS allows you to design the proper wellbore trajectory while accounting for capacity of drilling equipment and circulating fluid. You minimize torque, drag, and buckling. HUBS also makes calculations for heat transfer, influx, lost circulation, and phase change. Signa’s proprietary software eliminates the shortcomings of other UBD models by predicting optimum hole cleaning flow rate and maximizing penetration rate, while maintaining underbalance with minimum power and equipment.
